John Day

John Day MD is a family physician who spearheaded his public health clinic’s COVID testing, and was the only early-treating physician using antivirals, until he was fired for “vaccine refusal” in October 2021, while planting the winter garden vegetables on his day off in the vegetable garden he had started for his coworkers at the clinic. He has long been an active developer of organic and regenerative gardening practices. He still lovingly maintains kitchen gardens in Austin and Yoakum, Texas.

John presents practical tips on choice of garden location (considering trees and buildings), soil preparation, composting, and the benefits of joining a community garden. He also discusses drip-watering techniques, bed/crop rotation, initial soil testing, and choices of compost and amendments for optimal growth. Links to resources are included.

John focuses on creating intimate, nourishing, vegetable gardens. He emphasizes the mental health benefits of gardening and the importance of being in touch with nature.
